Healthy People, Families & Communities
We understand that your faith in God is an intricate part of every dimension of your life.
Often times, Christians want professional help, but they are afraid that the help given will be humanistic (human- centered) and neglectful of the centrality of Jesus Christ in the life of a believer. This a fair concern since modern psychology is humanistic in nature, and although they speak of “spirituality,” it is not grounded in biblical principles. At CityLight counseling, all of our services can be provided through a Christian worldview.

What does that mean, a Christian worldview?
First and foremost, it means that we see our work as ultimately being soul care (psychology comes Modern Latin psychologia, meaning, “study of the soul”). Therefore, we when we meet with Christians looking to address challenges in their lives, we want to be a conduit of the Good Shepherd’s love and care for their soul. We want to help you connect with God in an intimate way during your time of trouble, not point you away from Him. While some may think that the bible and modern psychology “can’t mix,” the fact is that many of the research-based treatment approaches of modern psychology are simply derivatives of biblical principles.
As we mentioned in “Our Philosophy” statement, “…we see a human being with a body, a mind, and a spirit….” We acknowledge each of these dimensions in Christian counseling by providing a holistic treatment approach. You can expect that sessions will include an appropriate integration of modern psychological treatments with biblical principles and practices to the degree with which you are comfortable. This means integrating Christian practices such as the study of Scriptures, praying, and meditation with corresponding modern psychological knowledge and strategies for addressing emotional and behavioral issues. We want you to know that your faith in God will be supported and attended to during your time with us.
